So, what are the reasons of Shelley Long weight gain?
Although at the moment Shelley Long weight gain is not particularly significant, it is still pretty obvious. For those, who do not known a lot about this actress, she started her career in showbiz performing with a comedy troupe, entitled The Second City and went on to appear in such movies as The Cracker Factory, A Small Circle of Friends, Caveman and Night Shift. Long ascended to stardom in the early 1980s, as she was cast for what became one of the most popular situation comedies in America, Cheers. In these television series the actress played Diana Chamber, an on-and-off girlfriend of Sam Malone.
The talks about Shelley Long weight gain have first started in the early 1990s. It would be a huge exaggeration to claim that back in the day the actress was fat; however, the changes in her body were quite noticeable. What was the reason behind Shelley Long weight gain? As strange as it sounds, it was probably happiness. In the early 1990s Shelley was a beloved wife and mother for two children: a stepson and a daughter. She met Bruce Tyson, a security broker who later became her second husband, in the late 1970s. Before that the actress was married to another man, but their marriage did not last long. In 1981 Long exchanged rings with Tyson and their one and only mutual daughter was born the same year. As a lot of women do, after settling in a comfortable relationship and becoming a mother Shelley has temporarily lost control of her calorie intake. Plus, as a young mother and an aspiring actress, she did not have much time to exercise. However, thanks to her fast metabolism her weight gain was not as significant as to call her fat.
Long’s family idyll came to an end in the early 2000s, when Bruce, her beloved husband and father of her grown-up daughter, walked away from home. Their divorce was finalized in 2004. By this time, Long has been suffering from a deep depression. As if it was not enough that she has just lost her husband, the actress had to move out of the house in Los Angeles, where she’s spent the happiest years of her life. Devastated by the divorce, Shelley used to spend days locked up in her room, with her curtains closed and her telephone plugged off. She did not want to see her friends and family, who were worried to their stomachs, and refused to eat. Needless to say, during this period the woman has lost plenty of weight. Luckily, with a help of her daughter and other people, who did not lose the hope to get her back into life, she managed to beat the depression. Shelley Long weight gain was a sign of her recovery.
